Mr. Masaki Yoshikawa assumed his current position of Managing Director of Global Coordination Department of NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile telecommunications operator in Japan, in June 2003.
Mr. Yoshikawa was born in 1953 in Tokyo, Japan and attended the University of Tokyo. After graduation from the university with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, he joined the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan (LTCB) in 1977. In June 1983, he received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. For over 20 years between 1977 and 1999, he was engaged in various banking activities for LTCB.
With his expertise in the banking business, Mr. Yoshikawa first joined NTT DoCoMo in April 1999. He was assigned Senior Manager of the Corporate Planning Department where he directed several important projects for establishing a new managerial accounting and evaluation system.
In October 1999, he became Executive Director of the Global Business Department where he worked on the planning and preparation for NTT DoCoMo USA, Inc. He was appointed the first President & CEO of NTT DoCoMo USA in February 2000, and then was President of the Pacific Division of the company from July 2001 to June 2002. In July 2002, he returned to Tokyo to be Executive Director of Strategy & Planning, Global Business Department, before assuming his current position.
Mr. Yoshikawa is married and has a son and a daughter. The family includes a dog.
