Born in 1942 - married, 3 sons.
Mr. Lombard is a graduate of the Ecole polytechnique and
of the Ecole nationale supérieure des télécommunications.
In 1967, Mr. Lombard began his career at the CNET of France Telecom
(currently Research & Development Division) where he worked
on developing new products for France Telecom in relation to satellite,
electronic and wireless systems.
From 1988 to 1990, Mr Lombard was the Scientific and Technical Director
at the Ministry of Research and Technology.
From 1991 to 1998, he was General Manager of Industrial Strategy
at the Ministry in charge of Economy, Finance and Industry.
From 1999 to Feb. 2003, he was Deputy Ambassador for International
Investment and was the founder and Chairman of the French Agency
for International Investment.
In Feb. 2003, Mr. Lombard joined France Telecom as Senior Executive
Vice President, in charge of Technologies, Strategic Partnerships
and New Usages (FT 2005).
On Feb. 27, 2005, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of France Telecom.
Mr Lombard is also a Director of Orange, of Thomson and Thales.
He is member of the Supervisory Board of Radiall and ST Microelectronics.
Mr. Lombard is Officier de la Légion d'honneur and Commandeur
dans l'Ordre National du Mérite.
