In November 2005, Pierre Danon, aged 49, joined JPMorgan’s
European advisory council as Senior Advisor to the Chairman, Walter
Gubert. He is providing advice and expertise to JPMorgan’s
team and clients across Europe, mainly focusing on the Telcom, Media
and High Technology (TMT) sector.
In March 2005, he was named Chief Operating Officer of the Capgemini
Group, one of the world’s foremost providers of Consulting,
Technology and Outsourcing services, reported 2004 global revenues
of 6,291 million euros and employs approximately 60,000 people worldwide.
He successfully turned around CapGemini’s ailing US operation
and energized the company’s global delivery strategy.
During his tenure, the share price went up 43%.
Prior to joining Capgemini, Pierre Danon was appointed CEO of BT
Retail in September 2000 where he was responsible for managing BT’s
21 million UK customer relationships, ranging from residential consumers
to major corporate clients and government. BT Retail employs 40,000
people and has an annual turnover of £13.4 billion. He was
a member of the BT Group Executive Committee and plc Board and reported
to Ben Verwaayen, Chief Executive BT Group.
Before joining BT, Pierre Danon was president of Xerox Europe, the
European £5bn operations arm of Xerox Corporation employing
nearly 20,000. He was also a member of the company’s worldwide
strategy committee, driving its transformation in Europe as a networking,
services, solutions business.
Pierre holds a degree in civil engineering from the Ecole Nationale
des Ponts et Chaussées, a law degree from the Faculté
de Droit Paris II Assas, an MBA from HEC and has wide ranging international
expertise gained as an executive working for Xerox in Europe and
the USA as well as experience in finance, sales, marketing, customer
services and research and development. He is also a Director of
EMAP, plc.
He was a senior vice president of Xerox Corporation since 1997 and
was appointed to the Xerox Europe position in August 1998. Previously,
he was president of Xerox Channels Group based in Rochester, New
York, which was formed under his leadership in March 1997 to bring
document solutions to the small office/home office (SoHo) and networked
office environments across the world via indirect channels, including
retail stores, computer resellers and dealers.
Pierre initially joined the French company of Rank Xerox (which
became Xerox Limited in 1997) as a financial analyst in 1981. Following
several finance and marketing assignments, he was appointed general
manager of Rank Xerox Belgium in 1991, later becoming general manager
of Holland and progressing to become general manager of the Central
Entity of Rank Xerox based in Amsterdam, with responsibility for
Benelux, Switzerland and Austria.
He moved to the US to become senior vice-president of Xerox Production
Systems. In this role he was responsible for the worldwide development,
manufacturing and delivery of production publishing systems, including
the highly successful Xerox DocuTech and DocuColor series, a business
division that generates some $3 billion in annual revenues worldwide.
He is married to Laurence Danon, Chief Executive Officer of Le Printemps
in Paris. They have two children David (22) who has completed his
diploma from HEC and Felix (14).
