Andrew BURKE

Andrew Burke is CEO of BT Entertainment, which is a division
within BT Retail’s consumer business to drive BT’s broadband
activities in entertainment and education.
Andrew is responsible for driving the new division’s strategic
brief to enable content providers to reach broadband customers through
platforms and services backed by the quality of the BT brand. This
includes developing, licensing and bringing to market content value
added services such as ondemand music, gaming, TV and movies.
Andrew’s former role at BT was director, value added services
for BT Retail, where he was responsible for devising and delivering
the products and services that enhance BT’s range of access
products. Particularly focused on broadband, Burke has driven BT's
significant leadership through
value added services spanning applications, content and devices.
Burke has been the chairman of both BT’s digital content platform
venture, BT Rich Media, and BT’s online payment services venture,
BT Click & Buy. He is also a board director of BT Directories,
BT Pay Phones. Burke reports directly to BT Retail group managing
director, consumer and ventures Gavin Patterson.
Before joining BT, Burke was founder and chief executive officer
of eVerger - a $100 million venture capital fund led by Aegis Group
plc and Warburg Pincus and focused on eMarketing and CRM companies
worldwide. Prior to that he was COO of eVentures, the internet venture
capital fund owned by News Corporation and Softbank. He was the
founder and CEO of LineOne, the leading UK internet service provider
latterly acquired by Tiscali, and established News International’s
initial internet presence in early 1995 by publishing The Times,
Sunday Times, The Sun and News of the World online.
