Pietro Porzio-Giusto is Vice President with
TIM for VAS/UMTS development.
Before getting this job position, he was
on secondment to Bouygues Telecom (France)
as TIM Project Leader for UMTS, and prior
to that he was responsible with TIM for
the development of the radio techniques
for the GSM network, the TACS network, and
the radio paging networks.
Previously he spent many years at TILab,
the corporate telecommunications research
centre of the Telecom Italia Group. There
he worked on digital transmissions over
microwave radio-relay links, satellite communications
systems and land mobile radio systems.
Since 1987 was deeply involved in the development
of the GSM standard with the ETSI Committees.
In the four year period 1989-1992 he was
Chairman of the Management Committee of
the European COST 231 Project ("Evolution
of Land Mobile Radio (Including Personal)
Communications"), that started studies
on the third generation of land mobile radio
systems. Since then he continued to work
on 3G systems. |
