Winning Services 1:
Corporate markets: How to increase revenues
when tariffs are dropping?
Faced with the inevitability of telecom
services becoming a commonplace, value
appears destined to be confined to the
advanced services being marketed to businesses.
But growth on these markets is often meagre,
despite broadband’s increasing ubiquity.
The integration of telecom solutions into
corporate computer applications is behind
new partnerships with operators, while
the importance of mobiles and security
is giving rise to new expectations…

Winning Services 2:
Beyond telephony… the next generation
in Personal Communication
Over the past several years, the emphasis
put on content has tended to overshadow
the still under-explored potential of
inter-personal communication services.
Far from being on the verge of extinction
– and provided progress is made
in interoperability – both fixed
and mobile telephony services are expected
to enjoy renewed impetus through their
integration into real time platforms in
new PC environments, taking advantage
of widespread broadband and IP, and creating
new bundles for operators (e-mail, IM…). • Introduction

Winning Services 3:
Mobile services in the age 3G and Wi-Fi
Mobile operators know that growth of their
revenues is contingent on their ability
to market new services that appeal to
customers. Here, the more or less simultaneous
availability of two new access networks
(3G and Wi-Fi) constitutes a strategic
timetable for the industry: what can be
said after two years of 2.5 G? How does
Wi-Fi alter the perception of the mobility
market? What lessons can be drawn from

Winning
Services 4: Always on… at home:
who will pay for what?
It appears that probably one third of
European households will be equipped with
broadband internet access by 2007. The
use of peer-to-peer services is one of
the driving forces behind broadband, but
few paid services have managed to forge
themselves a position on this market.
The content industries (video games, music,
video) are now seeking to devise a viable
model for operating this new means of
distribution.
